Nothing much has happened this week though it has been the normal busy. After the allergist, I got my new medication and Epi-pen, the joys of stupid allergies. Then it got cold... Wednesday -32C and Thursday -35C... both days I walked to school and back dressed in ski wear to keep warm. It has been so beautiful so I didn't mind it being cold as the sun was out!
Monday, Christine saw the Northern Lights in Jyväskylä and ever since we have been watching for them to come back. They are predicting they should be visible 15-17 February. I stayed up all Tuesday night and into Wednesday morning, gave up at 2am, got up at 4.30am to make Eero a drink before he left for work, then got an hours sleep and got up for school. Bad idea I was exhausted by the end and annoyed I hadn't seen anything!
Wednesday night, Britta and Christine came to our place and we watched the internet sites until midnight for any magnetic activity, for this expected second solar wind. There was nothing. So disappointed we wait again tonight with still hope in our hearts to see this again!
Going to Tampere tomorrow by train! Whoohooo, so excited to be going home for the weekend!

Kuuntelutentti ja kurssi tentti 30.08.2010
Today, was the day of a lot of exams. Ironically I also have a really bad head cold and can barely think in English let or lone a foreign language I am just becoming familiar with.
So this morning was the 45 minute listening exam, this is the hardest of all exams. The dialogues they pick always seem to be people speaking quickly and not clearly but such is the way of real life. the first dialogue was easier, though I got one question, the trick question wrong... 50/50 chance I knew it was between two answers. The other answers I think were ok, no real feeling one way or the other but I am just happy to pass to be honest! with this cold all I did all weekend was sleep and eat then sleep. Revision was impossible I couldn't do anything!
The written exam was this afternoon. It was hard to know what to expect as we had learnt so much but you couldn't possibly digest all we "learnt" so quickly. Though I am still learning in my book for a few hours a day until I know it all... shouldn't take too long as I know a lot of it. There were two exams. One was grammar based and the other was reading and answering questions. Reading was quite good and you have to answer in English to make sure you understand and don't just copy the appropriate lines. Grammar was a little harder with a writing a basic essay about what options are given. I did enjoy the grammar paper best but it has room for the most spelling mistakes! hehe
Still they are hoping to have marked all the tests by tomorrow so we will see! Whatever happens I know I put the time and effort into the course and sat it without complaining with an evil cold...
Tomorrow we have a class evaluation and then a party lunch!

1st and 2nd July
Nothing to exciting to blog about really. Ran a few errands in the city, finished off with a quick visit to the city today. Spending more money but such is life! and this new life is definitely worth that money. It is still really hot and sunny here, hope it stays that way for when mom and dad visit.
1st July, I had an email from Jyväskylä confirming the language course booking, telling me times and general information. They said that I should get a further email soon with a tutor's contact details... I don't really need the "standard" tutor stuff I have been here and we have set up all that I need in order to survive here but it would be nice to have a friendly face and maybe just maybe get some new friends from it =). I am really looking forward to starting at Jyväskylä now and everything is slowly falling into place.
Nan and Granddad have called a lot this last week, they appear to be worried about when they will see me again... they don't know it will be December time as there is no October half term breaks at Finnish universities. They haven't asked. They seem excited that there's a chance Eero is coming for Christmas and a chance we may go abroad for it. Who knows yet though, it is far from sorted or organised. It does seem like a fair option considering I have spent two Christmas' here.
We both still have the end of a nasty cold, it's been a week and I still keep having random fevers but thankfully they now burn out in an hour. Eero is at Heikki's tonight (2nd), Eero even got me some rice wafers and water from the shop, bless him.
I haven't picked up my Finnish books for over a week thanks to a cold, well the lack of me being able to focus and concentrate. So I have resorted to reading my normal books. Waterstones are now resending my books as I never got the other order so hopefully I get the books before we get visitors!
I am enjoying summer though, the sun is great (mosquitoes aren't so great)and the grass pollen isn't as evil (yet). I'm getting slight itching in my eyes, nose and throat so I know the pollen is there but it's not killing me like it does at home.
Work in the city is progressing well, they are putting stalls up for Tammerfest 2010. I think it will be a good festival but it's quite expensive as you pay to see the separate artists you want to see. I am half hoping to go see Poets of the Fall again but we will see.
I am missing the wok wok crew and I hope we regroup soon, I don't think I have seen them since the end of May =( but still we have facebook and I know they are alive and well!
The weekend's weather forecast is hot and sunny up to 30C and we are going on a day trip to almost Turku tomorrow and to the moomin world!!! whoohooo!!! plus we get to see Katri and Pekka!!! Katri and me can buy moomin things while we distract the boys with football but more on those antics after they happen!

Sunny Summer
I don't think it's often that summers are hot for so long here, it has been an excellent summer as yet! Sunny and hot most days. Forecast has predicted 29C for the weekend. Let's hope it holds out for when mom and dad visit.
Cold is still holding on for all it's worth! Ran a fever most of today not helped by no wind so I couldn't get a draft through the apartment. I felt better by the time Eero came home. We went to visit Jouko to wish them a happy holiday. Then went into city where Eero brought a fan so I wouldn't get hot... bliss. Not in the city long and we were both tired from colds. Dropped books to library, recharged bus card and home we came.
Eero made me pizza =) he's sooooooo cute! I <3 him x

Last week in June
I truly do not know where time goes here, in a few weeks I will have been here 8 months but it still feels like it's only been a few weeks... I think that must be a good sign.
Midsummer weekend Eero's cold got worse and he ran a temperature so we decided to help his recovery we would chill out the rest of the weekend watching 24 and Wolfman. I do enjoy a good session of 24 and Jack being so indestructible... Wolfman was a bit of a let down to me. I love Sir Anthony Hopkins (not in a want to have your babies kind of way) he is a great actor and always plays a great part, I just didn't like the film too much not enough drama or action.
We also stopped by and feed the ducks and some more baby ducks had appeared, hungry for bread. The evening held some strange weather half the sky as so black it should of rained a Noah's ark level of flood but the other half was sunny... there was a few showers then tree hours of just random rumbles of thunder.
Sunday night I started to come down with this cold and I'm still suffering today but not as badly as yesterday so I hope it's losing it's fight to live.
Still no sign of the delivery of books I ordered from waterstones... no one seems to interested in helping either. So I guess I report them lost and reorder them. Grrr.
I read my penultimate Karen Rose book, I can see you in 4 days. Took longer to read with a cold. I do enjoy her books, good twists, bit of romance and some imaginative thriller writing. Always a good page tuner. Now it seems my next load of reading won't be here before I finish the books I have left...
